The ANZ Student Package is available to students 18 years of age and over who are permanent residents of New Zealand. You must be studying full or part-time for a minimum duration of one year at a government recognised tertiary institution and/or in a New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) approved course and/or for a NZQA qualification relating to your work.

Students aged 16 or 17 years are eligible for an ANZ Student Account but are not eligible for a credit card or any lending.

Application criteria

To apply for an ANZ Student Package you will need to supply supporting documents.

• Proof of your enrolment in a full or part-time course for a minimum duration of one year at a tertiary institution and/or in a New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) approved course and/or for a NZQA qualification relating to your work (eg. Your fees receipt, proof of pre-enrolment or letter of acceptance).
• Student allowance or student loan entitlement letter (if applicable).
• Proof of any other income you earn (eg. Payslips for part-time work).

New ANZ customers

If you're a new ANZ customer, you will also need one of the following:

• current photo identification such as your passport, driver's licence or another bank's credit card with photo
• two kinds of non-photo personal identification, such as your birth certificate, another New Zealand bank's embossed debit or credit card or a club or society membership card.

After you apply

If your application is approved, you must direct credit any income that you receive into your ANZ Student Account (this can include Government Student Allowance, student loan or part-time wages).

After your fourth year of study you'll need to apply to extend your entitlement to the ANZ Student Package by 31 March every year you continue to study.

An ANZ Overdraft is an additional feature that can be attached to your ANZ Student Account. It provides a financial safety net to cover any unexpected cash expenses. This product is ideal to help you bridge a gap between paydays or unforeseen expenses.

How it works

The ANZ Student Package Overdraft allows students to apply for an interest free overdraft, up to $2,000, while you are studying. The overdraft application fee is waived but a credit facility fee of approximately $5 per month ($60 per annum) is payable.

Transactions up to the approved overdraft limit made via all banking channels such as ATMs, EFTPOS, ANZ Phone Direct,* ANZ Internet Banking,* branches and cheques would be honoured.

Overdraft eligibility

To be eligible for an ANZ Student Package Overdraft, you must:

• be 18 years or older
• have all regular incomes direct credited to your account (e.g. Government Student Allowance, loan entitlement, wages etc)
• have a good credit or savings history
• be a permanent New Zealand resident.

ANZ offers a special student package loan to all customers who are studying on a full or part time basis at a tertiary institution and/or completing a New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) approved course and/or studying for a NZQA qualification relating to their work.
