Personal overdraft

The interest rate for a personal overdraft is made up of the Consumer Overdraft Base Rate plus a margin. We list current margins below.

If you go over your credit limit, we can charge you interest on those amounts at the excess interest rate, which is the Consumer Overdraft Base Rate plus 7% p.a.

We calculate interest on any amounts you owe on your overdraft daily, and charge interest to your ANZ account in arrears monthly on the last business day of the month. See our ANZ Overdraft Agreement (PDF 79KB) for details.

Overdrawing your available balance or the approved overdraft limit

Applies if we choose to let you make payments or withdrawals or take any fees or charges, when you don’t have enough money in your account. We’re lending you money you don’t have and you must repay that money as soon as possible or when we ask. We charge the fee each month if you exceed your approved overdraft limit, or your account becomes overdrawn, by more than $10, for more than one day. This is charged in addition to excess interest. If you don’t have an arranged overdraft limit or you exceed your approved overdraft limit, you will be charged excess interest on the amount you have exceeded your overdraft limit by. The Excess Interest Rate is our Consumer Overdraft Base Rate plus 7% p.a.
