ANZ phishing email
December 2024
Scammers are impersonating ANZ and some customers have received emails that might look like they come from ANZ. The email may appear to come from an ANZ email address too.
How to spot this fake email
The scam claims a direct debit has been set up on their account and provides a phone number for people to call back on. There’s an automated voice recording and then the call is transferred to a scammer impersonating ANZ staff.
Customers are instructed to:
- Transfer money between their accounts and to their credit card
- Provide their Internet Banking login details and full credit card details
- Share their OnlineCode or Visa Secure code
- Put their cards and PIN details in an envelope to be picked up from their mailbox by an ANZ staff member or a courier.
If you receive an email like this, do not call the phone number on the email, do not click on any links or download any attachments and delete the email.
