Parcel delivery text message and email scam

We're aware that many customers are receiving text messages and emails about a parcel delivery with a link for more information or to confirm a pick-up.

The customer is then sent through to a fake site where they are required to enter their credit card and account details, personal information and security codes to pay a small customs fee to deliver the parcel.  A larger unauthorised amount will be charged to the credit card later

If you receive a text or email of this kind do not click on any links and delete the message immediately.

The messages may look like this:

  • If you think you have been the victim of this type of scam please call us immediately on 0800 269 296 (international +64 4 470 3142).  Please call us on 0800 838 123 to speak to our bi-lingual staff.
  • If you receive an unexpected or suspicious email or text message never click on a link or download an attachment in it.
  • Never disclose your banking passwords, PINs, security codes or personal financial information to anyone even if they say they are from the bank or the Police.
  • Stay vigilant when anyone contacts you out of the blue with unusual or urgent requests.
  • Report scam text messages to the Department of Internal Affairs at 7726.
