Dynamic security code in ANZ goMoney

Shop safer online using a dynamic security code instead of the security code on the back of your physical ANZ Visa card. It’s available in your ANZ goMoney mobile app and updates every 12 hours, adding another layer of fraud protection from ANZ and Visa.

How it works

A dynamic security code is a three-digit temporary verification code available for personal and business ANZ Visa Debit and credit cards in goMoney.

It is a digital version that works the same way as using your three-digit security code printed on the back of your card (Card Verification Value or CVV) when making a transaction. 

The dynamic security code updates every 12 hours, so if someone gets a hold of your dynamic security code online, it will only be valid for a limited time, giving you greater protection from fraudulent transactions. 

Where to find your dynamic security code and card details

Dynamic security code is only available in the ANZ goMoney mobile app.

In goMoney, go to Services > Manage cards > select a Visa card > select Show card details.


Card details

  • The card details screen will display the cardholder name, card number, expiry date and dynamic security code.
  • If you replace your card, your card details will automatically update in goMoney once it’s been approved.

How to use your dynamic security code

  • When you go to pay with your card online and are asked for your card details and three-digit security code (CVV number), you would go to the card details screen in goMoney, get all your card details and use the dynamic security code rather than using the number printed on the back of your card.
  • You can use all your card details including dynamic security code within goMoney for any online payment, or whenever you don’t have your physical card with you to pay online.
  • If you don’t want to use your dynamic security code or don’t have access to your mobile device with goMoney, you can still use the security code printed at the back of your physical card as you currently do.

Recurring payments

For recurring payments (for example, signing up to subscriptions), you can use a dynamic security code for the first initial payment and to set the subscription up. Subsequent payments don’t require a security code (either a CVV or dynamic security code) so won’t be impacted.

Always access your online banking through the goMoney app or ANZ Internet Banking on our website (www.anz.co.nz), never from links in text messages or emails.
