OUR Fee

An OUR Fee may apply to your payment.   

  • The OUR Fee is a process fee charged by ANZ. In turn, ANZ will cover fees charged by our correspondent banks used in processing your payments. If you are using goMoney or Internet Banking, you’ll see how much the OUR Fee is before you make the payment. Other banks (including other intermediary banks and/or the payee's bank) may charge additional fees or deduct fees from the amount transferred. These fees vary depending on the currency and bank you are sending the payment to and are outside of our control.
  • An OUR Fee applies when you make an international money transfer in:
    • Foreign currency to any other account (including ANZ accounts) in New Zealand or another country; or
    • NZD to an account in another country.
  • For some currencies, you can choose to either:
    • Pay the OUR Fee to ANZ from one of your accounts to provide more certainty on the full payment value being delivered to the recipient; or
    • Have the other banks (including intermediary banks and/or the payee's bank) deduct any fees or charges before the proceeds are paid to the beneficiary.

We cover the OUR Fee for sending money via goMoney or Internet Banking in:

  • AUD to Australia
  • GBP to the United Kingdom
  • USD to the United States
  • INR to India

The ANZ Transfer Fee will still be charged where applicable.

We cover the OUR Fee and the ANZ Transfer Fee for sending money via goMoney or Internet Banking in:

  • WST to Samoa
  • FJD to Fiji
  • SBD to Solomon Islands
  • AUD to Kiribati
  • TOP to Tonga
  • VUV to Vanuatu
  • NZD to Cook Islands
  • XPF to New Caledonia
  • USD to Timor Leste
  • PGK to Papua New Guinea

Supporting those impacted by the crisis in Ukraine – $0 ANZ transfer fee

To support those impacted by the crisis the ANZ transfer fee and overseas bank fees are waived for US dollar (USD) denominated international money transfers via ANZ Internet Banking and ANZ goMoney to Ukraine. 

Offer effective for a limited period, after which time standard fees will apply.

Sending money overseas

You need to make sure you have enough available funds in the account you're sending money from. Payments are processed immediately, so the money will leave your account straight away.

You can send the:

  • Equivalent of between NZD100 and NZD50,000 in goMoney or Internet Banking
  • Equivalent of between NZD50,000 and NZD100,000 by calling us on 0800 269 296 or visiting any ANZ branch
  • Equivalent of more than NZD100,000 by visiting any ANZ branch.

You’ll need the payee’s:

  • Full name and address (not a PO Box address)
  • Full account number or IBAN (International Bank Account Number)
  • Bank's name and address
  • Bank’s SWIFT code (also known as Bank Identifier Code or BIC), or Bank Branch Number if sending money to these countries:
    • Australia – BSB number, six digits
    • Canada – Institution Transit code, nine digits starting with 0 (zero)
    • India – IFSC, 11 characters (four letters, then 0 (zero), then six numbers or letters)
    • United Kingdom – Sort code, six digits
    • United States – Fedwire, FW, ABA or Routing number, nine digits
    • South Africa – NPS, six digits

IBAN

International Bank Account Numbers (IBAN) are used for international payments to countries including the European Union and Middle East.  

Destination countries with no IBAN allocated will require an account number. New Zealand banks do not use IBANs.

If you need an IBAN to send money overseas, you should get it from the recipient. It should be presented as a continuous string of alphanumeric characters with no spaces. To check if an IBAN is correct, see iban.com.

SWIFT code

If your payee doesn’t supply a SWIFT code, you can find it on the SWIFT website:

In goMoney and Internet Banking, you can send money overseas in:

  • Central Pacific franc – XPF 
  • Danish krone – DKK 
  • Euro – EUR 
  • Fiji dollar – FJD 
  • Great British pound – GBP 
  • Hong Kong dollar – HKD 
  • Indian rupee – INR 
  • Japanese yen – JPY 
  • Kuwaiti dinar – KWD 
  • Mauritius rupee – MUR 
  • Norwegian krone – NOK 
  • Papua New Guinea kina – PGK 
  • Philippine peso – PHP 
  • Samoan tala – WST 
  • Saudi riyal – SAR 
  • Singapore dollar – SGD 
  • Solomon Islands dollar – SBD 
  • South African rand – ZAR 
  • Sri Lanka rupee – LKR 
  • Swedish krona – SEK 
  • Swiss franc – CHF 
  • Thai baht – THB

By selecting the local currency for the recipient bank, you’ll be made aware of the exchange rate and approximate value of your payment in the chosen currency. If you send money overseas in a currency other than the local currency, overseas banks will usually convert your payment to the local currency at an exchange rate determined by them.

You can send the New Zealand dollar (NZD) to countries where NZD is the local currency, including the Cook Islands. 

If you are paying from a foreign currency account you cannot convert this to another currency.

If the currency you want to send money in is not available:

Sent money will leave your account straight away.

Applying the funds to recipient's account is the responsibility of the overseas bank. The timing of that will depend on recipient bank’s policy, systems and factors like public or bank holidays. 

Your money will usually be in the payee’s account in two business days.
