InPrivate

Spring 2024 Edition

Welcome to our latest edition of InPrivate.

Spring is a time of renewal – so it’s apt that we’ve recently announced a new addition to our international equities manager line-up, BlackRock Investment Management (Australia). BlackRock replaces MFS Institutional Advisers and is separate to our recently announced partnership with BlackRock, which you may have read about in the media.

With US$10 trillion under management, BlackRock is the world’s largest asset manager. It takes a factor-based approach which seeks to identify patterns which have historically driven higher returns – a strategy which helps us to diversify our offering and ultimately deliver better outcomes for investors over the long term.

In this edition, you can read more about BlackRock’s strategy, and how it fits into our stable of international equities managers to provide a more resilient and well-rounded investment offering.

Higher interest rates and inflation have cooled the residential property market in recent years – but positive net migration, tax changes, and falling interest rates could potentially start to warm things up. The Reserve Bank of New Zealand’s easing cycle is expected to lower mortgage rates further, potentially stabilising the market in 2025. We highlight what you could expect, along with our investment update for the quarter and a glimpse at the month ahead.

Finally, we’re delighted to be recognised at the PWM & The Banker Global Private Banking Awards 2024, winning Best Private Bank in New Zealand for the seventh consecutive year.

We hope you find the insights in this issue valuable, and thank you for your continued support.
